nursey shoes

All right, lurking nurse readers, I know you're out there. I need some practical advice! The CNA program I'm in requires me to get white shoes for my uniform, but any style of shoe is acceptable as long as they're all white. I'm short, I'm kind of klutzy, and I have a bum ankle from a bad sprain a few years ago. What shoes do y'all recommend? Don't worry about price - if they're worth it, I'll pay top dollar.

Comments:
i highly recommend dansko (www.dansko.com). it took me three years to to get one for me, because unlike you, price matters. but it is worth every penny. since you need white; check out the ir "occupational" products.

I really like my Sketchers work shoes. They're white but have some great nonslip treads and are supposed to be "nonslip." I found them at Shoe Carnival. See the photo on my blog.

I may have to get some Danskos and Earths too. I loved my Earths, but they were kind of ugly. The new "Solar" style isn't too bad.

Danskos are sooooo worth the money! I recommended them to another new OR nurse and she said after her long day in surgery, "I want to make LOVE to these shoes, I love them so much." Strange choice of words, but you get the picture. ;) Don't forget the support hose - especially if you're genetically predisposed to varicose veins/DVT.

Thanks, MaY & Marj - I have a pair of non-white Danskos that I wear a lot. My one concern with them is that they're a little high and my bum ankle sometimes twists and I fall off the shoe. If that makes sense. I've heard that there's a new Sport line of Dansko clogs that are lower to the ground with a wider sole... I should go try some on!

TDN, I kind of like your Skechers too. They look comfy. And I could pretend that I'm a skater. :)
