small affirmation

I met with the Health Occupations advisor at school last week. She told me my grades were excellent and that if I get in 200 hours of volunteer time, or get my CNA and work 200 hours, I will be an excellent candidate to get accepted the next time I apply. So now I just need to figure out the CNA thing, and plan on when to quit my job! :)

If I had read more carefully, I would have figured out what you were talking about!! Hope you get into nursing school! We need great nurses and caring people out here.. I recommend that you work as a CNA for a little while before getting into a program. It's a great experience that I wish I had done. I have learned a lot from my techs.. I teach them a lot too... It can be great to work both ways!

I completely agree - This past year has been incredible for me and I feel like I've had the upper hand at school when I've alredy done things we're talking about. I ave so much more confidence with patients, also. There are a lot of firsts during this period of your life, and for some reason they are easier to do at work. Nurses also help out their CNAs who are nursing-school bound. They'll show you all sorts of stuff! :)

Thanks for the positive feedback! I definitely think getting CNA training and working for a little while before school is a good plan... and it's nice to have that affirmed by people in the know. Now I just need to figure out where/when I can do the training.
